Mission
The Local Music Initiative is an original program created by NCAM to help local musicians elevate their craft and find an audience. We believe local music is crucial to building community. This initiative makes grants to allow local songwriters and bands to record their music professionally at no charge, plus opportunities to play local events.
Congrats to Mercury Coast
Mercury Coast is a local band that received the first LMI grant to record a full-length record.
Mercury Coast, led by Eric Sappington, is a four-piece folk rock band known for their 3-part harmonies and well-crafted songs. Their music is designed to win your heart and soothe your spirit.
By allowing themselves ample time for recording, the band focused on their work without worrying about time or costs. This resulted in a beautiful full-length album, helping them secure larger shows and grow their audience. The recording process has also improved their live performances.
